Simple Design Tips For Your New Home:

Having trouble designing your new home? Knowing nuts about design? Fret not!
Here’s some tips for your catch!
Even when faced with a challenging space (especially when it comes to living in Zimbabwe), incorporate the challenges into your design rather than trying to work against them. Knowing these tips will do some magic:
Light Colored Walls: Choosing light coloured wall helps to make the room feel larger. The living room above is a great example of how to maximize a small living space. Large windows and ample use of mirrors not only reflect the natural light, but also gives the optical illusion of space, making the room seem larger then it actually is. Conversely, darker colours will make a room feel smaller.
Popping Colours: Instant pop of colour on accent pieces such as cushions or ottoman will brighten and instantly energise and transform your space.
Go Green: Plants accessorise your space, adding colour, texture and life to it! Not only are plants beautiful but many can clean household air and balance humidity. They can absorb pollutants and remove harmful gases from the air. No home should be without these wonderful greens!
Dress your windows: Dusty Venetian blinds and too short curtains are not the way to go. Combine curtains and blinds in co-ordinating fabrics for the ultimate well dressed look. Go for long curtains for a more elegant look.
Mix up the texture: With fabrics whether it be furniture, rugs or pillows, varied colours and patterns can bring warmth and texture into your living space.
Mirrors = lights?: Mirrors place directly across from the windows will add instant light and dimensions to your living space. Decorative mirrors can also be used in lieu of art to fill empty wall space.
Mirror image: Layout your furniture in a subtle mirror image setting will create a neat and tidy look for your space. That’s simply magic!

Furniture that Double Up: Scout for furniture that has more than a function. This space saving trick are indeed useful and creative! Take a look at this ottoman coffee table, it not only serves as a table but also extra seating for your guests.
Leather Last: The most indestructible upholstery. Especially if you want it white. The older it gets, the more valuable it is. Pretty good investment.
Mix up your seating: You do not have to play it safe by getting 6 pieces of similar chairs for your dining table. Mix it up to spruce up your space!
Breathing Room: Resist overcrowding a room. Creates an atmosphere that offsets the stress and hassle of daily routine. Gracious living means space to manoeuvre with ease. Your room will look better than if it’s stuffed to the gills with flea market finds. Invest on quality pieces that will last for years to come. They won’t have to fight for attention in your less cluttered space.
Wall arts: Hang artwork at the right height. Choose those pieces that mean to you and hang it over your empty wall.
Rugs: You don’t want to pick too small a rug, though, or it may look insignificant, like an afterthought. The rug should appear as though it could touch the front legs of each of the seating pieces. This approach is best suited when you’re layering a pattern over a larger solid or textured rug.
Create a Focal Point: Pick something that will draw attention for an area, bringing your eye right to the center of the composition and anchoring it there. You do not wish to be feeling giddy the moment you step into your house, when every piece of furniture is catching your attention.
Layers of lighting: Professionals build layers of lighting to create interest, intrigue and variety. In a room where everything is lit evenly, nothing stands out. Pick a focal point and perhaps a secondary focal point and highlight those. Add general ambient lighting and some lower lighting, like table lamps, for interest.
